I spend a lot of time to point out the right equipment for such a journey.  You have to think about weather conditions, personal preferences, injuries, any kind of problems .

So the very first imporant steps to think about is the  space-solution  with your backpack.

Try not to save money by the most essential thinks like the backpack, the boots or a tent, if this is an option. My advise is to visit a well-sorted outdoor-sports and camping store.

There you’ll get a good consultation for your trip and the equipment you’ll need for a good amount of money. Sure you’ll pay for the service instead of buying somewhere on the internet, but it will point out real quickly, that this service is worth more than the extra bucks.

So back to topic, the backpack. It MUST fit to your body. Is is pointless to buy an extra large backpack with 90+15litres of volume when you are too small for this huge bag. Inform yourself and choose a size you can handle easily and  let some stuff at home.

We decided on two different sizes from the same producer.  60+15ltr and  50+10ltr.  Should be more than enough space for two people.Further you can say, if you are planning to walk a week or more than one week doesn’t matter. The stuff you carry along with yourself will be nearly the same. Maybe one kilo more.

The next big point is everything  which has to do with your feet. The shoes or boots and additionally the socks are very important for walking long distances without getting feets which hurts.

Even an  orthopedic insole could be an  option if you have problems during walking.

If you go and get some new boots, be sure to make some walks with them before you start your journey. New boots are normally fix and unkomfortable  and need a while to fit good. You can say they should have  walked about 50-100km and then they are good .
